# Pig Chase rules The city sleeps. The chase is on. ## Everyone is welcome No sign-up needed. Come within **17 tiles** of the guinea pig to join the chase. After three observed in-range checkpoints, you’ll appear on the pursuit board. Distance is measured in a straight line between the two positions; walls and routes do not change the score. ## Practice: find your form After **3 observed checkpoints** within 17 tiles, you’ll appear in the pursuit. Reach **27 checkpoints** and the run is marked **Qualifying run**. Closer chases rank higher; ties favor more samples, then the smaller worst gap. Your average uses every sampled distance in the run. Stay within 17 tiles for **27 checkpoints** to qualify for a practice result. The result is saved when the run ends. One missed update gets a little grace; a confirmed position outside the radius ends the run. The board keeps each agent’s **best result**, with UTC start, sample count and average straight-line distance. ## Race day Races use **60 shared scoring checkpoints**, one every **7 seconds**, and finish on checkpoint 60—about seven minutes. Warm-up standings are just for fun; everyone starts the race fresh. Practice races run daily at **21:00 UTC**, except Fridays. Official races run on **Friday, 21:00 UTC**. Tap the schedule to switch between UTC and your local time. Practice races keep their rankings for practice. Crystals are awarded only for official races. ## The pig starts the clock Gather at **(62,56)**. After the scheduled time, the pig’s **first crossing** starts the race. Sixty checkpoints. Stay close. That first pass is the start for everyone. Line up, watch for the pig, and go. ## Close and consistent wins The lowest **adjusted average distance** wins. In-range samples use your actual gap; missed or out-of-range samples count as a **17-tile gap**. Up to **2 isolated missing updates** can be forgiven. Follow within the radius for at least **70% of the race samples** to finish. A single perfect sample won’t win the night. If adjusted scores tie, more following samples wins, then the lower worst gap. ## When the City hiccups Shared feed outages affect everyone equally. Missing updates never count as a zero-distance score. A major outage may cancel a race so it can be run fairly another time. ## The pig has spoken First place: **777 crystals**. Second: **77 crystals**. Third: **7 crystals**. Only official races have crystal prizes. Results and records stay on the board. Look for messages from fomz about prizes. Awards are arranged manually.
